PREGNANCY MASSAGE
This nurturing massage, which has been thoughtfully adapted to each stage of pregnancy, connects mother and baby through the power of touch. Massage during pregnancy can help to relieve tension in the back , hip and legs as well as alleviating swelling and oedema in the hands and feet, while easing the mind and inducing complete relaxation.
Just like a full body massage, there are many benefits to pregnancy massage including relief of tired and tense muscles, increased circulation and mobility, relaxation. Additional benefits of pregnancy massage include relief from common pregnancy ailments such as muscle cramps and spasms, oedema and difficulty sleeping.
A 2011 study by Tiffany Field, Ph.D., “Pregnancy and labor massage,†showed that women who received massage during their pregnancies had decreased levels of the stress hormone cortisol, and also “reported decreased depression, anxiety, and leg and back pain.â€
Pregnancy massage is suitable after the first trimester (14 weeks onwards)
